Sasréti Vadászkastély - Esküvő

The Biedermann Hunting Lodge (formerly known as the “jewel of the Zselic”) is located in Sasrét, “halfway” between Kaposvár and Szigetvár, between the gently rolling, forest-covered hills of Zselic, at the terminus of the Almamellék railway.
The Bavarian-style hunting lodge, built by Baron Rezső Biedermann in 1902, belonged to the large estates centred on Szentegát in the then Somogy County, and the quiet forest surroundings and the area rich in big game were used for the relaxation of family members and their guests. The Baron also built the forest railway, which is still in operation today, and which today transports hikers between Sasrét and the terminus of Almamellék, known from the 1977 film ‘It’s Dangerous to Leap’, where the Forest Railway Museum presents the wildlife and forestry of the area at the turn of the century.

With 17 en suite rooms, single or double rooms, superior or family rooms, and 46 beds in total, the hunting lodge offers an unforgettable experience for those who wish to relax. The rooms are equipped with extra beds, beverage fridge, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, mini-safe, and on request, the TV can be taken out of the room for complete peace of mind.

Breakfast can be enjoyed on one of the rooms’ balconies overlooking the forest garden, or on the breakfast terrace. The “Forest Breakfast” for hikers and the brunch served until 11 a.m. for late risers can provide the necessary energy. The cuisine of the hunting lodge is rich in traditional Somogy-Baranja game dishes. The 35-seat restaurant with fireplace or the covered terrace with a capacity of 100 people are perfect for family, friends or business events.

The relaxation is completed by a sauna and wellness area for six people, where massages are available on request. For those who prefer active relaxation, there are organised thematic tours.

Sasrét is an excellent place for nature and hiking lovers. The Almás spring is nearby, several marked hiking trails pass through here, and the Rockenbauer Pál South Transdanubian Blue Trail is 1 hour away. A nature trail starts from the forest school and passes through the 200-year-old beech forest of Almamellék, the oldest forest in the county. Opposite the main building is a small lake with an island, where you can also go fishing. The small railway, the so-called Zselici Csühögő, stops here and follows a 6-kilometre route through a valley with a magnificent panorama.
